The backbone of the bundle, this kit includes a chunk of real deer hide that we hand flesh and cut, 4 oz of our Bloodtrail liquid scent, hardware for your drag, and an informational booklet breaking down the steps to train your tracking dog. This is where you begin, re-hyrdating the hide, adding scent, beginning drags, and allowing the dog to begin to understand the goal: follow the smell and there's a reward at the end! Add this scent to the Realhide, dummy, or tennis balls to get the dog to understand what he's looking for! Jeremy hand makes this scent with a number of different deer parts and scent clues, all sourced from deer our team harvests in the fall.

A rugged reward tool that holds up. Use it to build drive, reinforce correct behavior, and keep training fun. Especially for the retrieving breeds, the dummy is one tool we use as a reward at the end of the training track! You can also wrap the dummy with the hide and use it to lay training lives, as well as add scent to the dummy. Training a deer tracking dog is not complicated, and really revolves around just bringing out the dog's natural instincts. Just as important is you as the handler learning to understand and read your dog's body language while on the track. Yes. You can start foundations early, even beginning simple "sight" tracks and chases with little puppies. You can also start with an older dog. It's natural and in them already, we are just bringing it out of them.
