What should I be doing with my dog when we aren't training?

Follower's Question: Hey Jeremy I have a 9 week old black lab puppy. I've done every thing up till now the way you teach in your videos . My question is what do I do with the pup when not training and am around the house? Do I let him free roam the house or keep in the crate when we aren't training?

Jer's Answer: My pups have 3 options until they prove to be trusted otherwise.
1. On their place cot.
2. In their kennel/crate.
3. With me under 100% supervision.

Those three options ensure that they succeed. As they get older, they earn my trust and with that can come more freedom. Honestly, most of my dogs lay on their beds by choice after it becomes such habit and seen as a safe spot.
