Gun Dogs in Cold Weather: Vests, Blinds, and What to Watch For | Ep: #95
Gun Dogs in Cold Weather
Gun dogs in cold weather: With the recent hunt footage we have been posting, we have been receiving a number of questions regarding cold weather hunting. In this episode of the podcast, we cover the neoprene vests we use, the blinds we use, and what we watch for when hunting in the cold. One of the biggest factors that can lead to a dog having troubles is being in the water. When hunting water, it is crucial that you get them out of the water when they aren’t making a retrieve. We have been using the MoMarsh InvisiLap blind to do just that. We also put a neoprene vest on them to give an extra layer of insulation.
As we get later into the season and water starts freezing, there are a number of things as a handler that you need be cognizant of with your gun dogs in cold weather. Hopefully, this podcast helps you with keeping your dog safe in tough conditions.
As always, thanks for tuning in and keep the questions and feedback coming.
Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to the Turnpike Troubadours for allowing us to use a snippet from one of our all-time favorite songs The Bird Hunter. Make sure to check out their music, they are a favorite of ours.
