Retrieving a Bird (Big or Small, Dead or Alive) | Ep: #43
Retrieving a Bird (Big or Small, Dead or Alive)
Retrieving a bird can prove to be a challenge for many dogs, and there are a number of problems that can very easily come up. In this episode we are answering questions we received via Facebook from followers that are having trouble getting their dogs to retrieve birds. From pulling feathers, blinking (just won’t pick it up), chomping and chewing, or running away with it. Jeremy walks you through what you need to do to fix these problems, and better yet, introduce birds the correct way.
Geese are an issue we see a-lot as well. Geese are big, heavy, and can be very intimidating to our little labs. Retrieving a bird, especially a giant Canada goose, can be overcome by just incrementally preparing your dog to have success. Find out how to overcome these obstacles in this episode of the DogBone podcast.
As always, thanks for tuning in and keep the questions coming!
Also, a HUGE THANK YOU to the Turnpike Troubadours for allowing us to use a snippet from one of our all-time favorite songs The Bird Hunter. Make sure to check out their music, they are a favorite of ours and we have countless memories that tie us back to them from concerts to road trips.
