The dog will never see a real shed antler fall to "mark" it, so we need to teach them that these things are out there to find, even though he/she didn't see it. The blind retrieve helps develop that understanding.

How we devlop a search pattern, getting the dog to "quarter and cast" infront of us when searching for shed antlers.

Just like dogs can become gun shy from a bad experience with gunfire or loud noises, the same can happen with a negative experience being poked by an antler tine.
